Yahoo rumoured to take on YouYube

Rumours started circulating over the weekend in the US that Yahoo may be preparing to have a crack at the seemingly untouchable YouTube.

Re/code has reported that “several sources close to the situation” has told it that Yahoo is attempting to lure some of YouTube’s brightest starts with the promise of better money for their efforts.

There has been a rising tide of discontent among YouTube stars who do not believe they are receiving fair compensation for the advertisements hosted on their videos.

Before you get too excited, however, re/code has reported that Yahoo is initially intending to cherry pick YouTube’s best performers and keep its video sharing platform closed to the general public.

Here’s the original report.
