WPP, the biggest agency network, has reportedly spent billions of dollars on advertising on various digital media companies last year.
The report from Lara O’Reilly at Business Insider says the agency network behemoth spent $US4 billion with Google in advertising and $US1 billion with Facebook.
The figures are apparently up 38 per cent and 56 per cent respectively from the same time last year.
Yahoo, AOL and Twitter also had a hefty share in the millions with advertising, although CEO Sir Martin Sorrell told Business Insider advertising on message vanishing app Snapchat was “much smaller”.

WPP made headlines at the end of last year when it announced it was taking a 61 per cent controlling stake in STW in Australia and New Zealand – another massive agency network in the Asia-Pacific region.
The merger meant STW and WPP collectively will form a firm worth more than $1 billion.
