The Works has promoted Paul Swann (left in photo) and Tom Harber (right) to the newly created roles of managing partners as the agency continues to build its integrated offering with RXP Group.
Swann has been a creative partner at The Works for more than six years, during which time he developed work for accounts including Optus, Jim Beam, Visit Canberra, Unilever, and GSK and won numerous local and international creative and effectiveness awards.
Prior to The Works he was managing partner at Naked and has held a number of senior roles at agencies in the UK and Australia.
Harber joined the agency from the UK in 2014 as creative project leader and group account director for Jim Beam globally, becoming head of project management two years later. He has led brands including Jim Beam, Optus and Canadian Club and and more recently has led new business development.
As managing partners Swann and Harber will be responsible for the day to day operations of The Works including creative output, business development, people, culture and finance.
Speaking on the appointments, founding partner Damian Pincus said: “It’s a testament to the depth of talent at The Works that we have been able to promote from within and appoint Paul and Tom to take leadership roles at the agency.
“Both are massively experienced in building relationships with clients, producing effective work and harnessing the award winning culture we’ve developed at the agency. They understand the business inside out and together with the creative partners will continue to drive the agency and our people forward.”
Swann said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time for us, we’re now able to combine our skills in brand building with our customer experience expertise to achieve even greater impact for clients. We’re seeing our remit broaden which also means lots of exciting new creative opportunities.”
Harber added: “The industry has struggled to reconcile the impact technology has brought to creativity, but with our partnership with RXP we truly feel like we have cracked the code. We have been working to future proof the agency by developing a model that meaningfully fuses creativity and customer experience with technology enablement.
“Our offering and agency culture is stronger than it has ever been and we have the right people, capabilities and operating model to demonstrate tangible results for our clients. I look forward to stepping up and leading at The Works alongside Paul.”
Both will report to founding partners Pincus and Kevin Macmillan who will continue to work closely with the agency’s clients, in addition to identifying prospects for increased collaboration with digital transformation consultancy RXP Group which acquired The Works in August last year.
Partner Douglas Nicol will continue to drive strategy across the business and focus on pushing innovation through social messaging agency On-Message.
Ross Fielding, CEO at RXP Group, said: “As our teams continue to win and work on significant projects together, the opportunity for us to deepen the integration of The Works into the overall RXP Group grows.
“The promotion of both Paul and Tom into their new roles will allow Damian, Kevin and Douglas to spend more time identifying and delivering transformative digital and CX solutions for clients across the overall group, and in turn accelerating growth in this area.”
