The Monkeys Snares A Gong As Multicultural Marketing Awards Winners Announced

Minister for Multiculturalism Ray Williams last announced the winners of the 2017 Australian Multicultural Marketing Awards (AMMAs) in Sydney.

Williams said this year’s winners helped break down barriers to promote diversity on our screens and across society.

“With diversity being one of our state’s major assets, multicultural marketing is good for business, good for consumers, and good for our communities,” he said.

“All the winners and finalists demonstrated passion and commitment to exploring Australian identity in new, innovative and inclusive ways.”

Surf Life Saving Australia won the Sport Award for its powerful campaign to encourage a diverse range of new members to join.

Melissa King, CEO of Surf Life Saving Australia, said the organisation has always been a reflection of the community it serves and protects.

“The beach is the perfect melting pot of Australian diversity,” she said.

“As the fabric of our country continues to become more and more diverse, it is important that the fabric of Surf Life Saving evolves too.”

Other winning campaigns included an integrated marketing and engagement multicultural campaign for the 2016 Census and a tailored offshore and onshore campaign from Westpac to engage Chinese international students.

Now in its 28th year, the AMMAs recognise excellence in multicultural marketing and communication, promoting cultural diversity across Australia’s corporate, community and public sectors.
