Nine’s Peter Overton and Tracy Grimshaw were covering The Queen’s funeral when they failed to identify UK PM Liz Truss.
Overton and Grimshaw were covering the arrival of the guests at the Queen’s funeral, but when Truss made her grand entrance, they had no idea who she was.
Grimshaw kicked things off and said: “Whose this?”
Overton said: “This (car) is under police escort, of course. I would suggest this might be royalty, Tracy.
“Hard to identify. Maybe minor royals, members of the. I can’t identify them at this point.”
Grimshaw agreed and said: “You can’t spot everyone, unfortunately.”
This is true, but you probably should be able to spot the UK Prime Minister.

However, the journalists behind the scenes knew exactly what was happening because Overton was quick to correct himself.
He said: “I’m told that was Liz Truss, the new Prime Minister in the distance, she could see hopping out of the car. Thank you very much for that information.”
Overton recovered, but Australian journalists were unable to identify the UK PM has become international news.
