Wednesday TV Wrap: Ten’s Pilot Week Unearths A Winner With Comedy Show ‘Kinnie Tonight’

Ten’s ambitious ‘Pilot Week’ may have unearthed a winner after last night’s debut of sketch comedy show Kinnie Tonight proved the highest rating program of the experimental week thus far.

Admittedly, it only pulled in 404,000 viewers, but its later time slot would give Ten bosses hope that the program has legs and potential for a full series in 2019.

On top of Kinnie Tonight, Ten also did well with The Bachelor last night (819,000) and The Project (518,000) and more confirmation it’s chasing the Millennials.

Nine won Wednesday with 28.3 per cent, Seven had 25.9 per cent and Ten boasted 20.4 per cent. The ABC pulled 17.9 per cent and SBS had to settle for 7.5 per cent.

Over at Nine, is best was its 6pm news with 938,000, The Block with 901,000 and ACA with 810,000.

Seven boasted the most watched show of the evening, with its 6pm news pulling a neat one million. The Chase had 591,000, Motorbike Cops had 579,000, Highway Patrol  had 543,000 and 9-1-1 phoned-in 498,000.

The ABC’s night went thus: 7pm news (722,000), Anh’s Brush With Fame (652,000), The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (625,000), 7:30 (622,000), You Can’t Ask That (386,000), Adam Hills: The Last Leg (245,000) and Think Tank (197,000).

Over at SBS, its best was once again trains, Great British Railway Journeys chugging along to 210,000.
