Virgin Australia has announced it has become the naming rights partner of V8 Supercars for the next five years, with fans set to benefit from the airline’s new V8 Supercars travel platform.
The V8 Supercars Championship will become known as the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
As the naming rights partner, Virgin Australia will carry 26 drivers and their support staff from the 11 teams, and no doubt a flurry of fans, around the country each year through its new Supercars Travel dedicated Virgin Australia Supercars Championship travel platform.
This platform will help fans travel to races which take place in each state and the Northern Territory across ten months of the year.
V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton said the partnership with Virgin Australia was a major endorsement of the sport.
“We are delighted to welcome one of Australia’s most recognisable and premium brands as our naming rights partner for the next five years,” he said.
“We are focused on delivering a first class experience for our fans and this is a big win for our fans who fly thousands of kilometres every year across the country.
“Supercars generate $250 million in economic and tourism benefits to the cities and regions we visit in every state and territory and Virgin Australia will play a vital role in continuing to drive this growth.”
Warburton said V8 Supercars would transition to the name Supercars by July 1 in line with its partnership with Virgin Australia.
“V8 engines will always be part of our sport but as we continue to open the door to new manufacturers and different engine configurations as part of the transition to the Gen 2 regulations we believe the time is right to move to Supercars.”
Virgin Australia Group CEO John Borghetti said, “Our airline is a strong supporter of Australian sport and we are very excited to be the naming rights partner of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
“With two million fans attending races in 2015, V8 Supercars is Australia’s third highest attended sport and we look forward to supporting its continued growth.
“As naming rights partner, we will work with Supercars to generate further economic and tourism benefits for communities across Australia, including through the launch of our new Supercars Travel platform.”
Virgin Australia Brand Ambassador Jamie Whincup said it was an honour to welcome Virgin Australia to the sport.
“Having such a prestigious brand behind us is testament to the category as we continue to grow from strength to strength,” said the six-time V8 Supercars champion.
“Just as Virgin Australia prides itself on delivering the very best service for its passengers, we aim to put on the greatest show in sport, and with the airline by our side, I know we will keep delivering an ever-improving package for our fans.”
The V8 Supercars is the fourth most watched sport on TV with 59 million viewers across Australia last year. The next round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship will be the Perth SuperSprint at Barbagallo Raceway, from 6-8 May.

https://vimeo.com/515870840. www.savesalla.com In short, we created and launched the “bid” campaign for Salla, a small town from the Finnish Lapland – and the coldest in the region - to host the 2032 Summer Games. The announcement was made on the municipality’s official social media and - as expected - caused weirdness and people started talking about it. After all, how could a super cold small town be able to host the Summer Games? Then at a press conference with the mayor of the city and specialists he revealed that the bid was indeed a climate wake-up call, aimed at drawing the world’s attention to the consequences of global warming and the need for urgent action. Since its launching the initiative has been generating a lot of buzz and gaining support from environmental organizations, activists and the general public. People from more than 60 countries have been talking about the subject, especially in a moment of industries recovery, when the sustainable growth will be essential.
