UNHCR Launches ‘I Will’ PR Campaign With Kite Communications

UNHCR High Profile Supporter Kristin Davis holds Abigaelle (2), who is one of the 30 orphans living at the orphanage created by Sister Angelique Namaika, who is able to take care of the children, pay for their school fees and medical care thanks to the income of the bakery and the agricultural project. Sister Angelique Namaika, winner of the 2013 Nansen Refugee Awards, works in a remote region in the North East of the DRC with survivors of displacement and abuse by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). Through her project, she has helped transform the life of more than 2000 women and girls who have been displaced and abused by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). With the money she received through the Nansen Refugee Award, she set up a bakery and agricultural projects in Dungu, benefiting more than 300 women and their families.

Australia for UNHCR have launched a PR campaign titled ‘I will’ with agency Kite at the helm and Sex and the City star Kristin Davis as its ambassador.

‘I will’ is a pledge for Australians to support refugee women and children in crisis zones, whether it be through donations, fundraising, volunteering or even just sparking up a conversation with someone and helping raise awareness, and will incorporate PR, influencer engagement, social media, lobbying and corporate partnerships.

The campaign kicks off with a high profile, ticketed event in February at the Ivy Ballroom where Kristin Davis will be guest speaking.

Davis is a global UNHCR ambassador and human rights advocate, and will speak about her recent travels to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, where she met with UNHCR Nansen Award Recipient Sister Angelique Namaika to discuss women’s livelihood projects being implemented.

For Kite, who are part of the Sefiani Communications Group, Australia for UNHCR is a highly regarded client that the group have been working with for five years.

“We’re very proud to be working with such a highly regarded organisation on such an important issue,” Sefiani Communications Group MD Robyn Sefiani said.

“This is a topic that needs more support and discussion from everyday Australians, and a cause that we are all personally very passionate about, so we hope that Kristin’s visit will help spearhead more awareness and discussion and ultimately drive more support to Australia for UNHCR.”

Tickets can be purchased here or alternatively, Australians can donate to UNHCR’s Democratic Republic of Congo appeal at unrefugees.org.au/Kristin.
