Twitter’s Subscription Service Launches Down Under

Australian Twitter users will be among the first in the world to use the platform’s new subscription offering.

The long-rumoured Twitter Blue was officially announced last week and will give users access to special tools and features for a small monthly cost.

The company said it was: “developing and iterating upon a solution that will give the people who use Twitter the most what they are looking for: access to exclusive features and perks that will take their experience on Twitter to the next level”.

New features include; Bookmark Folders, Undo Tweet and Reader Mode (which turns Tweets to text for long Tweet threads).

There will also be additional ‘perks’, such as such as customizable app icons and special colour themes.

Twitter has been quick to remind users that although there is now a subscription model available, there are no plans to get rid of the free, ad-supported model.

Although Twitter will eventually look to take the service global, for now, just Australian and Canadian users will be able to use it.

Here in Australia, it will cost $4.49 per month.
