Twitter Unveils New Periscope Producer Addition To Rival Facebook Live

Twitter has announced the launch of Periscope Producer API, designed to open up new ways of sharing live video by allowing media publishers to broadcast live using their own equipment.

The new addition enables third-party applications to publish live Periscope broadcasts directly to Twitter, authenticate Periscope accounts, configure streams, and start and stop broadcasts.

Among the beta partners for the launch of Periscope Producer API are Wirecast, Mevo, Livestream Studio, Switchboard Cloud, Teradek, Brandlive, Giroptic iO 360, Grabyo, LiveU Solo, Make.tv, NewTek, Telescope, and Vidpresso.

The Periscope Producer API follows the launch of Periscope Producer last year, which has nearly doubled the total number of Periscope broadcasts per quarter.
