Twitch Announces First-Ever Australian In-House Sales Team

Video streaming and gaming service Twitch is bolstering its Australian presence, unveiling its first-ever in-house sales team in Australia.

The new team will be based in Sydney as part of the company’s APAC division, which is headquartered in Singapore.

Leading the new in-house sales team is Steve Ford (feature image), who takes on the role of VP of APAC sales.

Ford has previously led international sales for the streaming service and will be based in Singapore.

“Australia and Singapore are incredibly exciting markets for us,” said Ford.

“We have seen our audience of creators and viewers in those regions grow and with that, a tremendous appetite from our advertising partners to build deeper partnerships and better understand how to engage with our community.”

Ford previously led the establishment of the Twitch UK and greater Europe sales team.

Since launching in 2011, Twitch has grown alongside the burgeoning esports industry.

The streaming service, which is used by popular streamers such as Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Pewdiepie, was snapped up by Amazon in 2014 for $US970m.

Twitch began activities in Australia in 2014 and now has a team focussing on partnerships and content efforts.

The company says it wants to continue to grow its presence in the APAC region in the coming years.

Twitch has 15 million average daily visitors worldwide and already has a wide range of advertising partners.
