The television industry is celebrating the digital age as well-known TV executives and talent gather at Parliament House on Wednesday, March 26 to celebrate the future of digital television.

Check out the release below.

"TV INDUSTRY GATHERS IN CANBERRA TO CELEBRATE THE FUTURE OF DIGITAL TV

Some of Australia’s most loved TV talent will gather with senior network executives and politicians at Parliament House in Canberra on Wednesday, 26 March to celebrate the future of digital television.

The event, hosted by Free TV, Freeview and network CEOs, will be the first time the industry has gathered on such a scale for many years and marks the next phase in the evolution of Australian free-to-air digital television.

Free TV Chairman, Harold Mitchell, said the event is an opportunity to celebrate the unique role free-to-air television plays in Australians’ lives.

Mr Mitchell said: “While there are more platforms than ever providing news and entertainment, Free TV remains the no 1 choice for the vast majority of Australian viewers.”

“Broadcasters are responding to the digital challenge by giving viewers what they want; more choice and more great Australian content,” Mr Mitchell said.

The event will also provide a ‘first look’ at the next innovation for the free-to-air digital platform, FreeviewPlus. FreeviewPlus uses hybrid TV technology which seamlessly combines broadband and broadcast TV.

It will deliver the most advanced, user-friendly free-to-air EPG experience, with catch-up services accessed on TV screens for the first time and enable the networks to introduce a range of new broadband services.

Freeview Chairman, Kim Dalton, said: “Viewers will be able to access and enjoy a very sophisticated and yet easy-to-use free-to-air TV service.”

“We are definitely in an exciting new era of television and the imminent launch of Freeview Plus is only one of the many benefits viewers can expect.” Mr Dalton said."
