Turnstile Spins Restructure As Dan Gaunt Promoted To GM

Tenka CEO Rob Mills has today announced a new management structure for the sport and entertainment measurement business, Turnstile.

Dan Gaunt (pictured), currently the Head of Product for Turnstile, has been promoted to General Manager. Dan will now report directly to Mills, who congratulated Dan on his appointment. “Dan brings a powerful combination of consulting, technology and sports experience to Turnstile. He has done a fantastic job in building out the methodology and software components of Turnstile over the past 15 months, so his elevation to General Manger is a natural and exciting progression. The business is entering another growth phase and we are excited about where Dan’s leadership will take the business”.

Turnstile, which is headquartered in London, has become an industry leader in sponsorship valuation since its launch in 2018. Turnstile is currently working with major rights holders including Formula 1, Manchester City, FIFA, World Rugby, Williams Racing, and Football Marketing Asia (agents for the Asian Football Confederation). Brands with heavy investments in sponsorship, including adidas, Toyota & Coca-Cola are also using Turnstile to value their sponsorships.

The current disruption caused by Covid-19, and Turnstile’s ability to clearly breakdown sponsorship value, are key factors driving a period of rapid growth for Turnstile.

Following his appointment, Dan commented “When I joined Turnstile, I could clearly see both the need and the opportunity for this product in market. The industry has been crying out for a robust pricing mechanism that clearly articulates the fair market value of sponsorship properties. There’s no doubt that the industry is leaning in on our methodology and that’s reflected in the growth trajectory of the business. I’m really excited about the value add we can offer our clients and the sophistication and transparency we bring to the industry”

Additional appointments have been made within Turnstile in response to recent growth. A new role based in Sydney will lead the expansion in the Asia Pacific region. Andrew Hoffmann, who most recently worked with Turnstile in London, will relocate to Sydney as Head of Sponsorship Valuations – Asia Pacific.

Dan Gaunt explained the rationale for the new APAC structure. “Alongside revenue, the geographic coverage of Turnstile is also growing. Over the past 12 months we have worked with clients in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand and we are projecting a lot more opportunities in the Asia Pacific region. Andrew has been a key part of Turnstile’s launch in London and this experience will be invaluable to our Asia-Pacific operation.”

James Littlewood will join Turnstile in November as Head of Sponsorship Valuations – EMEA based in London. Most recently James was a Lead Consultant at Newton Europe.

Tenka, was launched as holding company on September 14th and owns Turnstile and Gemba. The restructure was made to support the continued growth of these business and to proactively look for new opportunities and investments in the sport and entertainment industry. Rob Mills will remain London to support Dan Gaunt and to explore new growth opportunities for Tenka.
