In the words of Nooky himself, “Blak Out is the FUBU of radio: For Us, By US. From old unk singing round the fire to the lil cuzzo spitting fire, this show serves more heat than nan’s curried sausages. Represent the present, remember the past, showcase the future!”

Nooky is a true triple threat. A rapper signed to Briggs’ Bad Apples label, a dancer with Muggera Cultural Enterprise, plus a community leader who in 2016 received the Australia Council’s prestigious Dreaming Award.

If you want to get to know Nooky better, tune into triple j all day today as he jumps onto triple j Breakfast, Mornings, Lunch and Drive to talk shop!

Blak Out is curated and produced by Nooky, alongside triple j music programmer and weekend lunch presenter and Gamilaroi woman Karla Ranby.

Blak Out’s theme music was created by ARIA Award winning producer, artist and Ngarrindjeri man trials. The program’s visual artwork was created by Ngarabal/Gomeroi artist Jeremu Worrall.

Thank you to Jimblah & First Sounds, DRMGNOW, Leah Flanagan, Emily Nicol, Briggs, Trials, ABC Indigenous and the Bonner Committee, Indigenous staff at triple j and the ABC, and the many people whose generosity, advocacy, time, and advice played a part in the creation of the program.
