ABC youth station triple J has announced an initiative to help emerging artists take their career to the next level by providing a series of triple j Unearthed Level Up Grants.
These grants, which are part of the ABC’s wider Fresh Start Fund, were designed in response to the unprecedented impact of COVID-19 on the Australian music community.
With the current lack of income and opportunities, this support is needed to help independent Australian musicians build a sustainable career and continue to create incredible local content.
Five grants are to be offered to five artists across these five genres:
-
- Band
- Solo
- Hip Hop
- Heavy
- Producers / Dance / Electronic artists
- Two grants offered to Indigenous artists
- Eight grants offered to artists based in regional areas – one for each state and territory
With up to $7000 available per grant, funds from the 15 grants can be spent on multiple facets of the artists career development, such as recording a new song.
To apply for a triple j Unearthed Level Up Grant head to triplejunearthed.com. Applications are open now and close at Midnight 7 June.
The overall ABC Fresh Start Fund will also commission new music via ABC Classic & Jazz and ABC Kids Listen projects, so if that’s more you’re thing, check it out!
