Top Online Retailers Recognised At 2016 StarTrack ORIAS
Las night saw the 2016 StarTrack ORIAS celebrate the hard work and excellence of Australia and New Zealand’s online and multi-channel retailing heroes.
Now in its seventh year, categories included: Best Pure-Play Online Retailer, Best New Online Retailer, Best Small Independent Retailer, Best Multi-Channel Retailer, Best In-Store Initiative, Best Pop-Up Experience; Best Online Retail Marketing; Best Site Optimisation & Design Initiative; Best Mobile Commerce Site/Application; Best Social Commerce Initiative; Best Customer Service; Best International Conqueror; Best Bootstrapped Growth Initiative; Industry Recognition; Online Retailer of the Year; People’s Choice Award , People’s Choice Award – Small Business, and the first ever StarTrack ORIAS Hall of Fame.
David Beck, head of Operations at Appliances Online (winner of Online Retailer of the Year) said, “We’re very proud to be awarded with 2016’s Online Retailer of the Year, especially when looking at the calibre of online retailers that were in the room. Whether it’s on our website, over the phone or on the trucks for the deliveries, our team is constantly striving to deliver the best possible user experience to impress our customers and exceed their expectations. The award is testament to this dedication, it’s an incredible honour.”
Nathan Huppatz, co-founder of costumes.com.au, who took out the title for Best Small Independent Retailer, said “We are really excited to have won, and for second year in a row too! It is testament to the fantastic team we have at costumes.com.au. We couldn’t be more pleased. “
This year also saw the StartTrack ORIAS ‘Hall of Fame’, an invitation-only honour for two outstanding retailers, their contribution and sustained excellence over the life of the awards. Multiple inductees were chosen, including Shoes of Prey and Appliances Online, who have been reigned in as permanent ORIA Hall of Famers.
Event director of the ORIAS Alice Kuepper said, “The judges undertook a rigorous process to determine the winners, and I can tell you the decision was not easy. All of the nominated retailers have done brilliant things, whether it’s growth, innovation or providing a first-class customer experience. Although each retailer is different with respect to strategy and context, these are the players influencing the market in ways that are new and compelling.
“It should be recognised that retail is always evolving and so are consumers, therefore retailers especially must work hard to stay competitive and relevant in today’s modern marketplace. It’s important for us therefore to acknowledge these efforts and celebrate their successes together as an industry, in a meaningful way.”
