TikTok is supporting Earth Hour globally to raise awareness about environmental issues by encouraging TikTok users around the world to take part in Earth Hour and turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour on March 28 at 8:30 pm local time, as a symbol of commitment to the planet.
The global community of TikTok users can also show their support by using a dedicated in-app #EarthHour hashtag when sharing videos on how they are being environmentally conscious and making a positive impact on the planet.
Additionally, beginning on March 25, a special Earth Hour quiz will be available, testing users’ knowledge and awareness on environmental issues. As a reward for completing the quiz, users will receive a special ‘Planet Ambassador’ certificate online.
On top of it all, there are also special Earth Hour stickers. Local celebrities and top creators including Australian surfer, Pacha Light have already shared their videos in support of #EarthHour.
Last year in support of Earth Hour 2019, TikTok launched #Connect2Earth, during which more than 50K videos with 100 million views were created.
The Earth is a universally-shared resource and its health and well-being is a priority for all of us around the world. TikTok is committed to inspiring and encouraging a new generation to have a positive impact on the planet and those around them and for the second year running, we are supporting WWF and Earth Hour, one of the biggest environmental initiatives in the world, to help our users be more eco-conscious and learn how easy it is to make a change.
