Nine won Thursday night after stiff competition from Seven, beating them by just 0.1 per cent of the daily share.

Seven secured top program, though, with Seven News scoring 986,000 viewers as Nine News had 919,000.

ABC News was next with 686,000 viewers, beating A Current Affair which had 642,000. 7.30 had 579,000 viewers.

Once again, Thursday night was MasterChef’s time to shine, coming top of the entertainment ratings with 557,000 viewers. In their immunity challenge, the contestants had to cook with some of the spiciest chilis in the world – including the infamous Carolina Reaper – and try not to explode anyone’s heads in the process.

Next was Seven’s Home and Away at 533,000 viewers and The Chase Australia with 524,000. There was also Home and Away – Late with triple run of eps (not a secret Home and Away with dark, twisted storylines), which scored 478,000 viewers. It was the show’s biggest week of the year so far.

ABC’s Back Roads had 482,000 viewers for the show’s season finale, where host Heather Ewart explored Strahan in Tasmania. Also on the ABC was Sammy J with 204,000 viewers.

10 had The Project at 465,000 viewers and 10 News First at 341,000.

For Nine, Hot Seat had 451,000 viewers while the NRL had 387,000.

Seven scored 350,000 viewers with The Front Bar.

As revealed in the top line, Nine (all channels) won the night with 27.3 per cent of the daily share, very VERY narrowly beating Seven (all channels) which had 27.2 per cent.

In this was Network 10 with 19.6 per cent, beating the ABC Network which had 18.0 per cent. The SBS had seven-point-nine per cent.
