Thursday TV Wrap: 500,000 Tune In For Ash Barty’s Wimbledon Semi-Final

Ash Barty has made the Wimbledon finals after a stunning victory over German Angelique Kerber.

Despite its late night air slot of 10.30 AEST, the match nabbed 508,000 viewers for Nine, as per OzTAM’s metro data.

Barty is the first Aussie woman to reach the Wimbledon final since 1980.

Thursday was a night for sport all round, with Seven’s AFL coverage netting 534,000 viewers and Nine’s NRL scoring 376,000.

On top overall was Seven News with 1,089,000 viewers, followed by Nine News with 1,025,000. Next was A Current Affair with 721,000, ABC News with 690,000 and 7.30 with 585,000.

Leading the entertainment charts was Home and Away with 569,000 viewers, followed by The Chase with 563,000 and Nine’s Hot Seat with 542,000. Home and Away’s late ep scored 460,000.

The rest of the night was dominated again by news and current affairs. Nine News: Late Edition had 460,000 viewers, 10’s The Project and 10 News First had 435,000 and 365,000 respectively, and the ABC’s Foreign Correspondent had 373,000.

It was a tight competition for control of the daily share, with the crown ultimately going to the Seven Network with 32.9 per cent, followed by the Nine Network with 31.1 per cent. Even tighter was the race for third, with the ABC and 10 seperated by just 0.1 per cent. Ultimately, Network 10 secured bronze with 14.2 per cent while the ABC TV Network won whatever they give to the people in fourth place, with 14.1 per cent.

Finally, the SBS Network had 7.7 per cent.
