Thursday TV Wrap: Howzat! The First Test On Seven Peaks At 474,000 Viewers

Thursday was the debut of First Test Cricket – Australia V Pakistan. At its peak, 474,000 Aussies tuned in to watch on Channel Seven, according to OzTAM metro numbers. Nationally, the Test reached 2.73m viewers.

On the cricket, a Seven spokesperson said: “It’s great to see Australians returning in droves this summer for Seven’s coverage of the Cricket, with over two and a half million viewers tuning in across the first day of the first test.

“We can’t wait to bring Australians more of their favourite summer sport as the season rolls on.”

Despite Seven’s cricket coup, it wasn’t enough to win the night last night, with Nine taking the honours with 31.9 per cent audience share overall. Seven came in second with 27.6 per cent, 10 on 18.0 per cent, ABC on 14.9 per cent and SBS on 7.7 per cent.

The rest of Seven’s day ran thus: Home & Away (551,000), Border Patrol (362,00) First Test – tea (386,000), The Front Bar Cricket Edition (391,000), First Test – session 2 (347,000) and Sunrise (293,000).

Over at 10: Jamie Oliver: The Naked Chef Bares All (442,000), The Project (360,000) and 10 News First (372,000).

And Nine: David Attenborough’s Seven Worlds One Planet (595,000) and Hot Seat (474,000).

Best for the ABC was its 7pm news with 609,000.

In the battle of the 6pm news bulletins, Seven topped the night (877,000), with Nine (828,000) and ACA following (635,000).
