A contestant from this year’s season of Married At First Sight has slammed a “ridiculous” rumour that is today on the cover of New Idea.
Mikey Pembroke is currently caught up in a rumour that his ‘wife’ from the show, Natasha Spencer, slept with his father.
Today’s edition of New Idea reads ‘She Slept With His Dad’, in reference to the claims, which came from another MAFS contestant Stacey Hampton.
“It’s not true. It’s ridiculous,” Pembroke told Nova’s Fitzy & Whippa this morning.
Pembroke, who was also on the cover of New Idea last week, then lashed out at the magazine.
“I just can’t believe it,” he said. “I was on the front page last week for the cheating scandal.”
“It’s just every week there’s more crap. Honestly, they [New Idea] are just trying to stay relevant.”
It follows a recent ruling by the Australian Press Council that found a Women’s Weekly headline regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle getting a divorce was “blatantly incorrect“.
“While an entertainment publication can be expected to use some exaggeration, the headline was expressed as an unqualified fact that the palace had confirmed the marriage was over,” the Council found.
“The Council considers that the statement in the headline was such that it was more than just an exaggeration, and that it was misleading.”
