In one of the greater ironies of the current UK general election campaign comes news the Conservatives’ election van bearing its slogan “strong and stable” has overturned in high wind.
In what could be an ominous sign for Theresa May’s party when the UK goes to the polls tomorrow, the van, which displayed the words, “For the best Brexit deal vote Conservative on 8th June”, upturned on the M6 near Woolston. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.
Local Labour councillor Faisal Rashid was quick to jump on the mishap, telling his local paper, “It seems as though the fate of this wagon is telling us all something! Clearly it is neither strong nor stable and is a symbol of Theresa May and the Tories’ weak and wobbly campaign.”
It’s not the first time the “strong and stable” slogan has got the party in trouble, with keen historians noting it was a line from Hitler’s Mein Kampf.
Naturally, social media is having a field day at the Tory’s motorway mishap.
