The Junior Mafia Podcast Launches To Celebrate Young Talent In The Industry

A new podcast has launched, The Junior Mafia, to celebrate and share the stories of young talent in the creative industries.

Hosted by DDB Head of Planning Dom Hickey and VMLY&R Junior Planner Jade Hickey, the series flips the script – speaking to the bigwigs in marketing and advertising – to give the young people a platform on the big issues.

“We want to hear from the people pushing change in adland from the bottom up. The next generation of makers and creators doing amazing things – both inside and outside the industry,” Dom says.

The all-female co-hosts promise diversity, intelligence and enthusiasm with each episode starring a future big talent in the marketing, advertising and creative industry.

Jade comments: “Enthusiasm is contagious especially when you’re new to the industry. We want to take that out of individual workplaces and rally a network of switched on and motivated people who will go on to shape the future of adland”.

Fortnightly episodes will feature a range of talent and disciplines from creative thinkers to up-and-coming strategists under 30 in the advertising, media and marketing sectors.

A sneak peek of what’s to come is below:

Episode one features DDB Sydney Planner Nate Kwok, discussing the Young Lion competition, the connection between mindfulness and strategic thinking and what it’s like to jump from client to agency side.

Episode two features The Works Planner, Lucy Batchelor, discussing gender neutral creative briefs, the power of introverts, and diversity in adland.

Future episodes will also feature VMLY&R Senior Data Strategist, Vipul Hiray, Cultiver Content Producer, Emma Breislin, Clemenger BBDO Planner Vince Usher, DDB Business Manager Mobolaji Komolafe and Freelance Planner Max Learmont.
