50,000 Riders Take To The Streets In Support Of Men’s Health

Men aren’t always as proactive as they should be when it comes to their health – especially if it’s getting their prostate checked or opening up about their mental health.

This is why on Sunday September 25th, 2016, the roads of Australia and 82 other countries will be looking a whole lot more dapper, thanks to the 50,000+ motorcyclists that will be hitting the roads to raise donations and show their support for men’s health in The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR).

DGR shines a light upon the unique motorcycles, fashion and ideals of a bygone era with participants adorning their snappiest formal wear and riding classic and custom motorcycles – such as cafe racers, bobbers, trackers and scramblers – to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and male suicide prevention. The global organisers are inviting the public to make a donation and cheer on the participants upon their return to their final destinations.

In its first year The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride in 2012 brought together over 2,500 riders across 64 cities worldwide. This year, a massive 50,000+ riders in over 500 cities around the world including New York, Rome and London will take part in this event founded in Sydney, in an effort to reach this year’s ambitious five million dollar fundraising target.

Proceeds will be invested in both local and global prostate cancer research as well as male suicide prevention programs by DGR’s charity partner, The Movember Foundation.

“We are just blown away by the traction and enormous support over the past four years. It’s fantastic to see so many different countries and cultures uniting together to raise awareness and  to offer the much needed support toward global prostate cancer research and suicide prevention programs” said Mark Hawwa, the founder of DGR.

“We encourage everyone to go and check out their local DGR event as it is spectacle to behold seeing these unique motorcycles paired with riders that are dressed to the nines” he added.

Now in it’s fourth year as a charity event, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is at the forefront of encouraging men to take responsibility of their health, get checked and seek support. DGR and The Movember Foundation both share this common goal of giving more life to our fathers, sons, brothers and friends.
