TBWA Melbourne Appoints Almap BBDO’s Eric Benitez As New Art Chief

After nearly a decade at the helm of AlmapBBDO’s art department in São Paulo, Brazil, Eric Benitez has joined TBWA Melbourne in the newly-created role of head of art.

Benitez has won multiple awards at Cannes, Clio, D&AD and the New York Festival, and brings extensive experience in the areas of fashion, automotive, airlines and consumer electronics, having worked on brands such as Volkswagon, Ford, Pepsi, Mizuno, and Havaianas.

TBWA Melbourne chief creative officer Paul Reardon said the appointment of Benitez marks a turning point in the way the agency will bring ideas to life.

“This is a really big hire for us. Eric joins us as one of the most senior creative leaders in the agency. He’s here to guide and assist us in applying world-class design and craft to everything we do,” he said.

“AlmapBBDO São Paulo is one of the best agencies in the world. They’ve taken out Cannes Agency of the Year twice since 2011, and Eric was the head of art during that period. So, he’s clearly an amazing talent, but also a genuinely lovely guy as well. We’re honoured he’s chosen to join us.”

Commenting on the new role, Benitez said: “Being part of a team so talented and focused as TBWA Melbourne is a great pleasure. It will certainly be a great and fun challenge for me.”
