Near Field Communication (NFC) company Tapit has hired oOh!Media’s business development director, Ben Wagner.

Prior to his almost four year stint at oOh! Wagner was group head of JCDecaux in the UK.

He joins Tapit in the role of commercial director – a move which the company said “shows just how seriously Tapit is taking the Out of Home (OOH) segment”.

Tapit said Wagner’s remit would involve pushing the company to the forefront of the global OOH industry, and ramping up its operations across retail and government.

Jamie Conyngham, CEO of Tapit said: “I believe OOH will keep taking a larger percentage of the media-spend pie, especially from TV. Ben is a high calibre executive and was our first choice to take our global commercial efforts to the next level. We’re very happy to have him join the tapit Team.”

Wagner said: “What Tapit is doing in the OOH segment is cutting-edge. Making previously static assets interactive, connecting out of home environments to retail experiences and introducing new ways for people to interact with their favourite brands is exciting. Being able to provide clients with innovative options to reach their audiences, supported by fully tracked data to analyse campaign success is a fantastic sales challenge for me to have”.
