Fowl Play! Today Show Forced To Apologise After Saying Coles Had Run Out Of Christmas Turkeys

Nine’s Today show has been forced to apologise after it incorrectly reported that Coles had run out of turkeys in the lead-up to Christmas.

On its weekend version yesterday, the hosts told viewers that the grocery chain had sold out of everyone’s second favourite festive meat (behind prawns) some 10 days before Christmas.

However, this morning the Today hosts had to apologise after it was revealed their information was well wide of the mark.

“Yesterday we wrongly reported that Coles has run out of turkeys,” the hosts told viewers this morning.

“Thankfully we’ve been informed by Coles that the information wasn’t correct and Coles assured us they have a steady supply of turkeys right across the country, so if you’re thinking of having one on your table for Christmas lunch this year, you needn’t worry.

“There are plenty of turkeys to be had.”

Apparently, the mix-up occurred when one of the show’s producers was wrongly told that Brisbane Coles had run dry of the feathery festive meat.

B&T has contacted Nine for further comment.
