We live in very strange times. And to prove it, England has just advanced to its first major football final in 55 years after defeating Denmark yesterday morning (Australian time) to set-up a meeting with Italy in the final of the Euro 2020 tournament.
It’s been a tough trot for the Brits of late – Brexit, COVID, Boris Johnson and Big Phil’s recent demise. So, it’s understandable the nation was desperate for some good news.
And arguably the exhilaration of the Three Lions’ win was on show in yesterday’s weather report on Channel Seven’s very own Sunrise program.
Reporter Sam Mac was delivering the morning’s weather news from a very cold looking park in Sydney. However, it wasn’t the hectopascals that was the topic of the report, rather the score in the England-Denmark game.
Watching on from his phone, Mac revealed mid-report that England had kicked a penalty goal to take the lead in the match.
That prompted the cameraman, an English chap by the name of Trevor, to jump out from behind the lens for an impromptu victory celebration.
Check out the fun below and thanks to the venerable Daily Mail for the footage:
