Seven will be chuffed that its acquisition of The Voice has been a bountiful one.
They scored the show from Nine last year and, in it’s first season on the network, is paying dividends. Last night’s episode scored 1,226,000 viewers, putting it second only to Seven News and even then, it was tight.
The news scored 1,267,000 viewers – just over 40,000 more – according to OzTAM’s metro data.
Nine was in a solid second, as the news won 1,172,000 viewers and The Block found its footing to come in fourth with 758,000 viewers.
Also in news was ABC News with 735,000 viewers and 60 Minutes with 643,000, while in entertainment Australian Survivor had 664,000 viewers.
The ABC put forward Joanna Lumley’s Britain, for anyone whose personl interest Venn diagram includes both Absolutely Fabulous and British history. It turns out that’s rather a lot of people, as the episode scored 613,000 viewers.
The network also premiered their new drama The Newsreader, set in a 1980’s newsroom. So far, it’s netted positive reviews, and also scored 552,000 viewers.
For Seven, the rest of the night saw Homicide: With Ron Iddles nab 576,000 (putting the actually scary in ‘Sunday scaries’), while the AFL had 459,000 viewers and Weekend Sunrise had 296,000.
On the ABC, the COVID-19 public update had 359,000 viewers and Landline had 284,000, while Weekend Breakfast had 261,000.
At 10, The Sunday Project scored 447,000 viewers and 10 News First had 334,000.
Finally for Nine, the late news had 384,000 viewers.
The Seven Network won the night overall with 32 per cent of the daily share, followed by the Nine Network in second with 27.6 per cent. In third was Network 10 at 17.9 per cent, while the ABC TV Network had 15.9 per cent and the SBS Network had 6.7 per cent.
