The Block is sanded, nailed and painted for another year with fan favourites Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie (main photo) a good $750K richer after winning last night’s finale.
The stalwart reno show continues to do big numbers for broadcaster Nine, with last night’s episode peaking at an impressive 1.835 million OzTAM metro viewers for the winner announcement. The show proper peaked at 1.555 million viewers.
That meant Nine hammered its rivals for audience share, nabbing 46.6 per cent of all of last night’s eyeballs (all channels). Seven had to settle for 20.8 per cent, 10 took third with 14.1 per cent, the ABC did 13.6 per cent and it was a miserly night for SBS who could only muster 4.9 per cent.
The good news continued for Nine with its 6pm news bulletin (999,000) beating rival Seven’s (904,000). Weekend Today dead-heated with Weekend Sunrise on 220,000. 60 Minutes posted 688,000.
Seven’s other standouts were its Ultimate ABBA special (499,000), Border Security (274,000) and Seven News at Five (224,000).
Best for 10 was Celebrity MasterChef (395,000), The Sunday Project (312,000) and 10 News First (251,000).
The ABC’s evening ran this way: 7pm news (554,000), Restoration Australia (487,000), Total Control (331,000), Insiders (291,000) and Landline (226,000).
