It was a battle of the reality shows last night as Nine debuted its 13th season of The Block up against Ten’s Australian Survivor, however, it was Seven’s Sunday Night and its Princess Di special that took bragging rights.

The Block managed a respectable 1.17 million viewers according to overnight OzTam figures, while Ten’s Survivor pulled a disappointing 639,000 – some 144,000 less viewers than its 2016 debut.

However, it was Seven’s Sunday Night special with interviews with Princes William and Harry speaking about the 20th anniversary of the death of their mother, Diana, which was the most watched show of the evening pulling a staggering 1.33 million viewers.

Sunday Night’s success helped Channel Seven win the night with 26.9 per cent of the audience share. Nine was second with 22.7 per cent, Ten third with 20.4 per cent, the ABC had 9.7 per cent and SBS with 3.4 per cent.

Seven’s news managed 1.3 million viewers, beating arch-rival Nine’s bulletin with 1.16 million.
