The much-hyped interview with Barnaby Joyce and his lover and mother of his newborn son, Vikki Campion, has proven all a bit of a dud for Seven’s Sunday Night.
The hour-long tell-all, which the couple were reportedly paid $150,000 to appear, managed a disappointing 631,000 viewers last night according to the OzTAM numbers.
It was the ninth most watched show of the night and even got beat by the ABC’s new Aussie drama Mystery Road (786,000) and David Attenborough’s Tasmania (750,000).
Despite being $150,000 out of pocket, Seven still won Sunday with 29.2 per cent audience share. Nine wasn’t far behind with 27.1 per cent, while the ABC pipped Ten for third, 20.8 per cent to 17.1 per cent, respectively. The SBS managed to rummage up 5.8 per cent.
Seven’s House Rules had its best night of the season, pulling 882,000. While Nine’s The Voice (816,000) and Ten’s MasterChef (781,000) were both down on previous weeks.
Seven’s 6pm news bulletin (1.18 million) was the most watched show of the night and saw off rival Nine’s efforts, that managed 1.07 million. Nine’s later running 60 Minutes had 429,000.
MasterChef aside, Ten’s only other show of note was The Sunday Project that fell under the magic 500,000-mark with 428,000 viewers.
ABC’s 7pm news bulletin pulled 747,000, while its new food history show Back In Time For Dinner had a shocker, pulling only 242,000.
SBS’s best for the night was Underwater Pompeii with 204,000 history buffs tuning in.
