Subway Restaurants launched a national advertising campaign this week featuring the 70’s power ballad ‘I’m not in love’ by rock band, 10CC.
In the TVC, the lyrics in the ballad are used to express the undeniable taste satisfaction that Subway steak lovers experience when they eat their steak sub for the first time.
The talents’ actions reflect the emotive tone of the lyrics, as they longingly look into their subs and ‘try not to fall in love’ which is also the tagline for the campaign.
The new campaign promotes ‘The Great Steak Range’ for a limited time only which includes three steak sub options: the classic favourite Steak and Cheese, Steak, Bacon and Cheese and the new taste sensation – Steak, Caramelised Onion and Cheese.
Regional marketing director of Subway Australia and New Zealand, Gina Kahler believes the campaign is a fun way for customers to share their love of Subway.
“Our Steak and Cheese sub has always been popular with our customers, but now for a limited time they can enjoy a new flavour on a classic favourite – we think they’re going to love it,” Kahler said.
The Steak, Caramelised Onion and Cheese and Steak, Bacon and Cheese subs are available for a limited time only at participating Subway®restaurants.
British rock band 10CC released ‘I’m Not in Love’in 1975.
The song was originally written by Eric Stewart and Graham Gouldman. The ballad gave the band their second UK No.1 in June 1975 and provided them with their first US chart success when the song reached No.2.
