The Canadian branch of Walmart has more to worry about than just its loony customers after it was forced to remove a T-shirt that featured a rather unsavoury, albeit hidden word.
The olive-coloured garment was seemingly well-intentioned, adorned with a message about recycling and retailing for just five Canadian dollars ($A5.60).
It came with the words “cycle”, “use”, “new” and “think”. However, as keen-eyed Walmart shoppers quickly realised, that spelt out a rather unsavoury word when read vertically. B&T won’t spell it out and hopefully you can determine for yourself from the below.
As these things do, the faux pas quickly went viral with many believing the design was, in fact, intentional.
“Wow, as someone that prints clothing for a living, I’m amazed this made it to the shop floor,” tweeted one person in response. “They had to know surely?!”
“I wonder if this was intentional and Walmart is showing its colours,” tweeted another.
“Someone is getting fired,” another person said.
However, most others saw the funny side and demanded to get their hands on one (probably before they got banned!)
“NEED IT,” wrote another Twitter user, while one said: “Unbelievable”
“But you can only wear this shirt on Tuesday,” said someone else. (This is in reference to an old gag that goes “See you next Tuesday”.)
However, a Walmart spokesperson denied the slogan was intentional.
In a statement, a spokesperson told The Independent the “hidden word” was unintentional and has been removed from its stores.
It added: “The T-shirt has been removed, and for context, this item was only available in Canada.”
