Twitter is putting the boot into Abbott, mocking him for a reference to the Bible during Abbott’s Margaret Thatcher Lecture speech.
During Abbott’s anti-immigration lecture at the black-tie event in London on Tuesday night, he bragged about how Australia has stopped the boats and Europe should follow Australia’s lead.
The imperative to “love your neighbour as you love yourself” is at the heart of every Western polity… but – right now – this wholesome instinct is leading much of Europe into catastrophic error,” Abbott said.
In response comedian Wil Anderson ignited a Twitter game referencing the Ten Commandments, Abbott considers himself a Catholic, with the hashtag #ToneCommandments:
Love thy neighbour. Actually close the borders and just watch Neighbours, it’s mostly white people #TheToneCommandments
