When it comes to self-promotion, few can compare with the legendary Sir Richard Branson.
And now the 69-year-old is fronting a new fragrance ad that is actually parading as a promotion for Virgin Voyages new adult-only cruise liner, The Scarlett Lady, that launches next year.
The ad parodies all the clichés of perfume ads in spruiking the new cruise liner, but is actually a fragrance you can buy.
Called “No.1 Ship” it comes with the tagline it “smells like ship” (get it?) and apparently sells for $US50 ($A72) for 100mls.
All proceeds from the sale of “Ship” will be donated to ocean conservation non-profit foundation, Ocean Unite.
So, despite promoting a cruise ship that sounds like it’s for swingers, and coming with a terrible name, the fragrance does appear to have good at its heart.
