Skittles Debuts First Halloween Spot In Years And It’s Both Wacky & Wonderful

Skittles is getting into the Halloween spirit early with its latest campaign that subverts the familiar with a witch who can’t rid an annoying teen from her home.

Skittles’ first Halloween spot in over five years was created by DDB Chicago in partnership with Smuggler Production House and twists a well-known Halloween fairytale with a modern twist.

The story features a witch who lures a teen into her house with the promise of Skittles.

Sitting in a tub, the teen is eating Skittle while asking the witch if she has anymore. Her plan to eat him (as is the narrative in the original storyline) is ruined after the teen turns out to be incredibly annoying, so much so the witch begs him to leave.

He keeps asking for more Skittles and even shows her a video on his phone of a Skittles ad that features a witch who begs a similar child in a cauldron to eat all the Skittles.

He says: “Oh, it’s not as good as I remember,” then goes back to begging for Skittles.

The wacky spot ends with an updated tag of, “Annoy the rainbow. Taste the rainbow.”
