“Shart Attack!” ABC TV Report Proves To Be A Mistimed Stinker

Anyone who had their nose in the news over the weekend would have read about the astonishing story of a 10-year-old boy who was reportedly pulled overboard by a great white shark while fishing with his family in Tasmania.

The group were fishing off the coast of Stanley’s on the state’s north-west coast when the incident occurred. According to reports, the boy’s father dived in, wrestled the shark and managed to get his son back on board shaken and with toothmarks in his life jacket.

The unnamed boy was taken to hospital and is said to be doing well.

With such an incredible story to tell, it’s no wonder local news crews were quick to want to cover it.

However, the ABC’s reporting quickly copped a pasting on social media by eagle-eyed viewers after graphics on a TV report labelled the incident as a “Shart attack”.

For the more innocent B&T reader, a “shart” is when someone accidentally defecates while attempting to fart. There, we said it.

And, let’s be honest, if a great white pulled you overboard, you’d probably shit yourself too.

The ABC has not commented on the gaffe, while, as these things do, viewers were quick to take to Twitter to post their merriment.

“I would’ve done the same, can’t blame the kid,” tweeted one.

“I’m sorry, what? #shartattack ???? (in all seriousness though, well wishes to the child and family),” penned another.

Another added: “Very concerned for the young survivor of today’s Shart Attack.”

While another wag noted: “I’m as worried as she is! This dorsal terror could strike anywhere!”
