With the advertising industry in a state of flux, social media users have been reflecting on campaigns of yesteryear.
One such campaign that has been doing the rounds is a 2012 Super Bowl ad for Nintendo.
In the commercial, Kim Cattrall – famous for playing Samantha in Sex and the City – revives the ever-sensual character, claiming “there are many men in my life, but for a few minutes, or a few hours, I’ll always find time for Mario”.

The ad was first re-shared by Netflix employee Marc Snetiker and quickly caught the attention of Twitter users around the world.
Cattrall’s pronunciation of ‘Mario’ in particular drew attention.

Ars Technica tech culture editor pointed out “really wasted opportunity by Kim in not saying “he puts the ‘nookie’ in ‘tanooki'””.
The revival of the ad has even caught the attention of Cattrall herself, who stayed true to the campaign slogan more than eight years later.
