Seven has announced that Jim Jefferies will host a game show on the network called the 1% Club.
Ever since Seven cut ties with Andrew O’Keefe, they’ve yet to find a new quiz king. Larry Emdur has yet to pull a Sonia Kruger and attempted to host every show on the network.
Instead, Seven has gone with new talent to launch their new quiz show, and they’ve gone for Jefferies.
Jefferies is known for being very funny but also pretty controversial. You’d be accurate to rate his usual comedy routine as MA+.
To give you an idea, The Guardian wrote a two-star review of one of his stand-up shows, and the headline was, “Filthy comic leaves a nasty stench!”
Jefferies isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But he has amassed a huge American following and reached big-time comedic highs.
I started watching Jim Jefferies specials last night, and every time I re-visit comedy I'm thinking about whether my tastes have changed, maybe what I used to like now feels cringey, etc.
Nope. Jefferies is still the GOAT. Absolute mastery.

Sure, he doesn’t seem like the obvious choice to host a family game show. But, sometimes, avoiding the obvious can create the best television.
It is a big change of pace for the comedian, but an interesting get for Seven.
