Sefiani Communications Group has announced the appointment of Nicole Thurston as creative director, a newly created role at the agency which includes corporate and financial firm Sefiani and consumer and digital agency Kite.

Thurston had previously held roles at One Green Bean, Zeno (Edelman’s sister agency) and Weber Shandwick London. She is a communications professional with 15 years’ international consumer and corporate brand experience.

She has managed high-profile integrated campaigns for global brands such as Tourism Australia, Nike, Nespresso, Pernod Ricard Winemakers, Sage, Motorola and Far East Organization. She has also led sponsorship activation of major corporate partnerships, including Australian Olympic Committee, AFL, Cricket Australia, Wimbledon, Jim Beam Racing and Surf Life Saving Australia.

Thurston said: “I’m very excited to be joining Sefiani Communications Group. I love to work with people who are passionate, brave, energetic, collaborative and results-driven and I’ve found that at Sefiani and Kite.”

Robyn Sefiani, the agency’s Chairman and CEO said, “Nicole’s hire is significant because Sefiani Communications Group has immense potential for growth. One of our biggest opportunities lies in the ability to couple our strategic communication foundations with creative flair for the benefit of clients.

“We looked to the market for someone exceptional who could bring creative thinking, impactful ideas and global brand building experience and we’re delighted to have Nicole on board to lead that charge,” she said.

The appointment follows two other senior hires at the agency in recent months: Nicole Schulz came on board as general manager of Kite after 15 years in senior roles at Hausmann and Rebecca Angus joined as digital strategist after successfully running her own firm.
