Reports One Of The Bachelors Is A Plant Who’s Being Paid To Play The Villain

When it comes to self-marketing then Ten’s The Bachelorette is proving itself a real phenomenon.

Following earlier reports that this year’s bachelorette, Sophie Monk, is already married and pregnant to one of the contestants – rumoured to be Stu Laundy – comes news today that there’s a plant on the show whose job is to stir up trouble.

According to reports on the venerable Daily Mail, the show’s troublemaker Ryan Jones (in main picture) is being paid double to play the villain and, apparently, boost the show’s ratings.

Channel Ten has not commented on the allegations.

“He has been offered twice the pay of the other contestants to compensate for the fact that he will probably be on the show for a very short time, and is required to stir the pot amongst the other suitors,” an unnamed source told the Daily Mail.

The article also suggests that Jones never had to audition for the show and was selected solely to be the troublemaker.

“‘He has been offered twice the pay of the other contestants to compensate for the fact that he will probably be on the show for a very short time and is required to stir the pot among the other suitors,” the source said.

And if Jones is merely a plant, he’s doing a good job of hiding it after he took to social media to complain how the show’s producers had portrayed him.

In a Facebook post over the weekend, Jones raged: “Yeah I speak my mind, I’m upfront and I’m straight to the point, but would you rather someone like that or someone who sits in the background.

“Big thanks to Channel 10 and Warner Brothers for your magic work behind the camera, chopping and screwing everything and anything for your ratings, we all know that you’re in financial trouble but it’s a shame that you think so little of someone’s wellbeing that you’re prepared to throw them under a bus and watch them suffer.

“Fortunately for my sake, the gentlemen I was on the show with the production team and Sophie know that I’m not this person and ultimately my friends and family know this as well, so I’ll be fine.

“Lastly, if someone had to play this character, I’m glad it was me and not someone else, as someone else may not have been able to handle it the way that I’m able to,” he penned.
