Independent music production house Red Note has officially opened its doors bringing to the local advertising market a heritage of expertise in sound composition and music licensing for the digital age.

Combining music expertise and experience, Red Note is the love child of Peer Music former managing director Matt Donlevy, In The Mix / Faster Louder former brand and sponsorship manager Greg Townley, acclaimed music composer Steve Peach and Red Engine managing director Julian Townley.

Recognising the demand for branded content, and the desire to connect more deeply with audiences, Red Note managing director Greg Townley, also an acclaimed musician with over 20 years experience in advertising and music production, believes nothing ignites an emotional bond quite like music does.

“To me, music is the integral piece than can help content transcend with audiences through its ability to move, inspire and engage,” he said. “There’s no better time than now to launch a music production company that caters to the specific needs of the digital market and gives our clients the opportunity to communicate and connect beyond images and words.”

Alongside his brother Julian Townley, CEO of Red Note and MD of BRW Fast Starters content agency Red Engine, the pair has produced more than 10 albums for commercial airplay and their songs have debuted on TV soundtracks, including Network Ten series Bondi Rescue.

“Much like everything we do, and now as business partners, we want our clients’ audiences to have as much fun enjoying the content we produce, as we have producing it,” Townley said.

“Bringing together the passion, vast network and respectable expertise of Matt Donlevy, once responsible for managing Peer Music – the world’s largest independent music licensing company, and the likes of award winning composer Steve Peach, whose work currently features on Australian feature film Alex and Eve, only reinforces the strength of our offering,” he added.
