All metro commercial radio markets saw an increase in advertising revenue during the last month of 2016, according to the latest figures by Deloitte.

The data showed that the growth rate of radio ad revenue went up from 5.5 per cent in November to 6.75 per cent ($58.837 million) in December.

Brisbane took the cake for ad revenue growth in the five mainland state capital cities, posting an increase of 10.37 per cent to $9.674 million.

Melbourne was next best with 6.68 per cent growth to $17.546 million, followed by Sydney (up 6.5 per cent to $17.792 million), Perth (up 6.43 per cent to $8.401 million) and Adelaide (up 2.23 per cent to $5.424 million).

Deloitte also revealed that overall ad revenue for the radio industry increased by 1.15 per cent to $395.317 million during the first half of the 2017 fiscal year.

Year-to-date figures show that Brisbane and Melbourne’s ad revenue is up 2.15 per cent to $62.327 million and $121.812 million respectively, while Sydney’s ad revenue has grown by 1.91 per cent to $121.914 million, and Perth’s was up 0.7 per cent to $54.128 million.

Adelaide was the only mainland state capital to record a decline in ad revenue in the year to date, down 4.64 per cent to $35.136 million.
