Despite only having four episodes released in the month, Hamish & Andy continue to reign supreme in the podcast world. The September Triton Digital Australian Podcast Rankings revealed a monthly listenership of 847,644 and 1,685,159 for the podcast that airs on SCA’s LiSTNR network.
“For more than 20 years, Hamish and Andy have been some of Australia’s biggest media and podcasting personalities. Their consistent focus and genuine care to entertain their audience are some of the key reasons for their ongoing success. To see Hamish & Andy continue to break records as Australia’s favourite podcast is credit to Hamish and Andy, their team, and the team at LiSTNR,” said executive head of LiSTNR Podcasts, Grant Tothill.
Casefile True Crime bumped ABC News Top Stories off its number two position, recording a monthly listenership of 788,832, up significantly from 677,813 in August – an impressive feat when you consider that Casefile only had five new episodes released over the period, as opposed to ABC News’ 398.
ABC News Top Stories’ monthly listenership of 782,185 secured it third spot ahead of Mamamia Out Loud and Shameless.
Podcast listenership was down slightly across the board, with ARN’s IHeart taking the top spot for publishers with a monthly listenership of 4,272,356, down slightly from August when it also won the top spot with a listenership of 4,441,912.
“Our continued success on the Australian Podcast Ranker is a testament to the incredible talent behind these shows and the dedication of our audiences. From true crime to finance, sports to relationships, iHeart continues to provide a wide range of content that resonates deeply with listeners across Australia,” Corey Layton, ARN’s head of digital audio, said.
