Some of the most popular baby names for millennial parents in the States are the titles to Instagram filters, according to a new study by babycenter.com.

According to the parenting website’s hottest baby name trends of 2015, Instagram inspired baby names are on the rise with names like Lux, Juno, Reyes, Ludwig, Amaro, Valencia, Aden and Willow all growing in popularity.

“Many new moms and dads are at home on social media and fluent in emoji, hashtags, and memes. Some wouldn’t even think of posting a photo on Facebook or Instagram without some creative tweaking. So why not put those favorite filters to an even better use?”

The Instagram photo-editing tool Lux is up 75 per cent for baby boys and it’s slightly up on our list of baby girl names too. The newest filter, Ludwig, jumped 42 per cent on our boys’ name list, Amaro (up 26 per cent), Reyes (up 10 per cent), Hudson (up 4 per cent), and Kelvin (up 3 per cent).

For baby girls, the name and Instagram filter Juno has jumped 30 per cent in popularity, Valencia rose 26 per cent on our girls’ name list and Willow gained 13 per cent.

The report predicts that Instagram baby names will just rise in popularity with Mayfair, Sutro, Rise, or Brannan becoming popular in 2016.

We live in a strange world.
