oOh!media Loses 18 Sydney Airport Billboards Due To Government Development Project

oOh!media has lost 18 billboards along Qantas Drive at Sydney Airport as a result of a new government roadway development.

The NSW government’s Sydney Gateway roadway projet has seen the billboards – which sit between the international and domestic airports – be dismantled to make way for the development, which links the WestConnex motorway and the airport.

The reduction of the billboards sees oOh!media’s presence at Sydney Airport fall by approximately 20 per cent.

“The billboards in question are no longer available to advertisers as a result of a NSW government land acquisition for the Sydney Gateway project,” an oOh!media spokesperson told the AFR.

“The company still retains a strong local presence, with 69 advertising faces in the airport precinct.”

The AFR suggested the billboards in question carry a trading rate of $50,000-$75,000 per month.

Fortunately for the outdoor player, it will not lose ‘The King’ – its 400sqm billboard located at the gateway to the airport.

Earlier this year oOh!media revealed ‘The King’ had gone digital, in a bid to target both the high-value airport audience and the high-volume road market.

Last year oOh!media added six new large format digital billboards at Sydney Airport, include two on Joyce Drive – the gateway to Sydney Airport – that impacts international travellers through T1 and domestic travellers using the T2 and T3.
