The Joke’s On Me, an online series about the Australian stand up comedy industry, is looking for potential brand partners.
The series, which launched on YouTube last month, profiles up-and-coming stand up comics and has been endorsed by some of Australia’s top comedians.
Producer of the series Zoe Pelbart said: “Brand association, for us, is on the cards.”
In the first instance, Pelbart says charities would be a great fit for the series, specifically an organisation like Beyond Blue or R U Ok? She said: “It’s widely known that comics are often tortured souls. We wanted to associate with a few different charities and have comics speak on their experiences because they’re very good orators. They’re very good at portraying life in an honest and raw way.”
Pelbart has worked with editor Doug Suiter to produce the series on a shoestring budget and the pair is in talks with entertainment management groups for future A list comedy cameos.
Pelbart said: “We want it to be seen. There’s a lot to be desired in the comedy industry in Australia so if there are brands that would be interested in being associated with it, and the grassroots growth of the Australian comedy industry, I’d be open to working with anyone.”
