Controversial Olympian Caster Semenya Stars In Latest Nike Offering

Nike has certainly made hay of late aligning its brand with controversial athletes, and its latest offering starring South African middle-distance runner Caster Semenya certainly follows a similar vein.

The new spot’s called “Athlete in progress” and follows the 28-year-old running and training in her native Johannesburg.

Semenya recently won a legal battle with the athletic’s governing body, the IAAF, after it had banned her until she agreed to take hormone suppressant medication to control her testosterone levels.

The Olympic gold medal winner suffers from a condition called hyperandrogenism which gives her elevated testosterone levels something, her critics have long argue, provide her with an unfair advantage on the track.

In the spot, Semenya says: “I have learnt to appreciate people for who they are, but first it comes with me appreciating myself and loving myself.” Check out the latest work below:
