Celebrity makeup artist, Michael Brown and skincare guru, Alisha Bhojwani have announced they will come together for an all-inclusive gender-neutral beauty podcast, Skinfluence, launching from today.
The podcast – produced by the Nova Podcast team – will represent the need for beauty industry inclusivity and will break through beauty barriers that are still prevalent today.
Skinfluence will also tackle the latest trends and products, alongside the best beauty and skincare tips.
With their impressive resume of celebrity clients and Instagram followings, Michael and Alisha cater for the ever-so-diverse beauty landscape, highlighting the importance of inclusivity for all skin shades and gender expressions, and more importantly having fun with beauty through makeup and skincare.
The duo will provide knowledgeable insights from how to achieve the best fluffy brows, to the best age to start thinking about Botox, and even demystifying microdermabrasion.
“A lot of beauty content is directed at a very narrow demographic which can feel alienating for some people. Skin is something we all have no matter how we identify or what our background is, so we wanted to create a show with this in mind as beauty is something everyone should be able to enjoy,” said head of podcasts and digital content, Rachel Corbett.
“Our hosts, Michael and Alisha, have experienced this lack of representation in the industry first-hand so were the perfect choice to host a show that’s for anyone who wants to learn more about skincare and beauty.”
Brown has over 20 years of industry knowledge and experience across all areas of beauty from retail, fashion, red carpet, TV, and media.
Brown is also a renowned celebrity makeup artist and has worked with A-listers including Gisele Bundchen, Miranda Kerr, Sofia Richie and homegrown talent, Delta Goodrem and Jesinta Franklin.
“One thing I love about the beauty industry is that it’s constantly evolving, not only in terms of product, but also adapting to society changes,” said Brown.
“It has come a long way and I’ve seen it first-hand! I’m so excited to share every bit of knowledge I have gained over two decades to help anyone feel more confident within themselves through the new Skinfluence podcast.”
Bhojwani is a Sydney-based beauty writer, content creator and skincare aficionado. When she’s not educating the people in her life about the importance of a consistent skincare routine, you can find her road-testing the latest beauty treatments, reminding her friends to wear SPF, and searching for the perfect lip gloss.
“It has always been a dream to start a podcast and I couldn’t be happier to be doing this with Nova,” said Bhojwani.
“Our early experiences have shaped our approach to beauty. Growing up as a person of colour, the lack of representation and role models made it challenging to enjoy beauty, I shied away from wearing makeup until my early to mid-20s.
“And skincare? Forget about it! My hyperpigmentation was through the roof! Whether you find skincare overwhelming, want to shake up your beauty routine or simply just love hearing about what’s new, Skinfluence is for everyone.”
Skinfluence launces from today, with new episodes available every Monday, and is available from Nova’s official website, the Nova Player, or all other podcast platforms.
